Too often when we think of beauty, we think of the aesthetics. Makeup. Hair. Models. We see high fashion magazines or even Instagram and wish to have as long as lashes or as strong an eye brow game. But is that what beauty really is? Is the newest Dior lipstick as deep as it gets?
When you limit your definition of beauty to “add ons”, the enhancements we add that have become the new face of beauty, you’re closing yourself off from a world that has so much more life. Lets face it, anyone can make themselves appear however they want. With plastic surgery, the right concealer-mascara combination and apps, a person can be transformed into something totally new.
Beauty is so much more than that. Passion, new beginnings, confidence, compassion, sunrises, miracles- these are beautiful. Cause be honest, we’re all gonna get old. Despite how hard some people try, the Botox and face lifts can only stop the aging for so long and those favorite skinny jeans of yours can’t last forever. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so down for taking advantage of your youth and enhancing natural beauty. But there has to be more. There has to be something deeper to find your happiness in and fall back on when the makeup comes off and the years begin to add up.
So here’s my idea. Why not give beauty a new definition? Instead of posting about the newest MAC eye shadow, I want to highlight some of the beautiful things we tend to overlook in our day to day lives. I’m not saying I’ll never post about any beauty products or that there’s anything wrong with that. I love hearing reviews on different products and even have a few I’m obsessed with and have to share. But 95% of the time, I consider mascara and powder full makeup. I'm always waiting till the last minute to get ready, so my hair is usually on that border of dry and just climbed out of the pool. I'm not quite sure that makes me qualified to be giving anyone advice there... Ultimately, I want beauty to mean something more. I want it to go deeper. Like I’ve said before, my goal is to inspire as many people and in whatever ways possible. Hopefully this might do that, even if for just one person.
I’d love to know what you think, so take a second to send me your comments!
